這本該是一個平靜美好的早晨，喬治（烏爾裏希·穆埃 Ulrich Mühe 飾）和妻子安（蘇珊娜·羅莎 Susanne Lothar 飾）帶著兒子來到位於湖邊的小屋度假，喬治和兒子前往湖邊整理之後要使用的帆船，而安則在廚房裏安置生活用品。一聲尖銳的門鈴劃破的所有的平靜，來者是一名看上去彬彬有禮的年輕人，他自稱皮特（弗蘭克·捷林 Frank Giering 飾），此行前來打擾是為了借一枚雞蛋。皮特端正的外表取得了安的信任，但隨後發生的事情卻讓安大跌眼鏡。這時，一名叫保羅（亞諾·弗裏斯奇 Arno Frisch 飾），外貌酷似皮特的男子敲響了安的房門，同時，喬治帶著兒子也回家來了。
演員都到齊了，一家三口怎麽也無法想到的是，等待著他們的，將是來自這兩個白衣惡魔的，毫無動機，毫無憐憫，毫無理智的淩虐。
