腿有殘障的科學家黃三太（江口洋介）率領科學小組（大S、陳柏霖等）發明“孟結海綿”，捕獲囚禁了一個十三歲男孩的鬼魂，為了查出該男孩的死因，以便自己死後也能變成類似的鬼，黃三太找來有超常能力的探員葉起東（張震），令其跟蹤被放出去的男孩。最終，葉起東發現男孩是被他的親生母親殺害。
其後，葉起東從男孩的雙眼間看到一條細絲，它似乎連接著某種神秘的力量。科學小組成員因為害怕男孩傷害他們，再次將他隔絕拘禁，不想因此擾動了細絲的另一端，更為恐怖凶殘的力量被釋放出，小組人員先後一一離奇死亡，葉起東與女友（林嘉欣）也受到該力量的追蹤。
