拉斯·馮·提爾於上世紀九十年代拍攝的邪典劇集《醫院風雲》將拍第三季，也就是本係列的最終季，共有五集。本劇以哥本哈根一家外科精神病房為背景，極盡荒誕、黑色喜劇之能事，原本計劃就是三季，但在拍攝了兩季後，因主演恩斯特·雨果·加拉加德和克裏斯汀·羅夫斯離世而暫停。第三季將在2021年開拍，聚焦新的角色、新的故事，拉斯·馮·提爾將以《醫院風雲：出埃及記》(The Kingdom Exodus，暫譯)的標題拍攝全部五集，劇本則由他和尼爾斯·沃塞爾共同完成。
