鐵蛋（傑拉爾·德帕締約）是個大話癆，與人聊天不分時間、場合和對象，也因此他沒有朋友，在監獄裏一個接一個的換著室友，直到他遇到總也不說話的殺手盧比。鐵蛋可以一直對盧比說下去，盧比（讓·雷諾）不說話，不生氣，腦子裏總在策劃越獄。
盡管盧比的越獄計劃天衣無縫，卻不想被鐵蛋死死的黏住，可也正由於鐵蛋的幫忙，兩人在混亂中逃了出去。盧比心中還有為女友複仇的計劃，然而鐵蛋隻是想永遠和盧比做朋友，開一個餐館。一個喋喋不休，一個喊著要對方閉嘴。兩個人在逃亡的途中，衝突不斷，笑料迭出。
