1939年，持續三年的西班牙內戰接近尾聲，右翼法西斯分子風頭正勁。左派戰爭孤兒卡洛斯（費爾南多·緹艾弗 Fernando Tielve 飾），被父親的戰友們送到一個位於荒郊野外的孤兒院。這個孤兒院由嚴厲的卡門女士（瑪麗莎·佩雷德斯 Marisa Paredes 飾）和和藹的卡薩瑞斯教授（Federico Luppi 飾）共同經營。卡洛斯離開親人和叔叔們的失落情緒並未持續太久，他很快就融入了這個滿是同齡人的大家庭。不過，這個院子中央插著炮彈的地方，也許原本就存在著些許異常。卡洛斯所睡的12號床之前屬於一個名叫山迪的孩子，山迪在不久前離奇死去。自從卡洛斯來之後，那個小男孩的鬼魂便不斷出現…… 本片榮獲2002年阿姆斯特丹奇幻電影節評委會銀獎；2002年法國Gérardmer電影節國際影評人獎、評委會特別獎和青年評委會獎；2002年青年藝術家獎最佳演員獎（...
